A Glimpse Of The Real Florence, Italy. By Kari Varner

written by M.E. Evans March 25, 2015

I’m really excited to feature photos from this amazing photographer Kari Varner. Kari is also a former SACI student and she’s incredibly talented (Unlike me. My photos look like a child took them after over-dosing on baby Benadryl). I love her style of photography, it’s super intimate and I feel like I’m standing right there with her. But not so much in a stalker sort of way. This series really captures the feel of Florence. I know you guys are going to love them as much as I do. Tell me which one is your favorite in the comments below (I especially like the dead pigeon since I’ve stepped over many of them on the streets of Florence and I have a weird love/hate relationship with bird corpses because of it. But not like a serial killer.).

God especially if it peed a lot. Then it would be perfect.

Funny story about that. When Francesco first got Oliver he told me (as a surprise), “Babe! I got us a puddle!” I was like, “That’s weird.” Then I realized he meant Poodle. And Oliver does pee a lot. It’s like his favorite thing ever.

Wow! Amazing photos. Love “flight and footsteps”, because How did she capture such a gorgeous moment in motion? Also love “santo spirito”, for the angles and contrast. Love, love, lovely. Thanks for sharing!

They are all awesome, but I especially like Reflective Puddles and A Lonely Bike, A Quiet Street. There is also something very cool about Santa Spirito. Has me longing for a trip back to Florence.

Hard to choose. She has a fantastic eye. Reflective Puddles reminds me of the soul of Florence, reflecting the city and doubling as a mirror, which Florence does to me. Waiting at the Bus Stop strikes at the center of what I wish Florence was still like, only feminist ;). And, the Cats of Boboli made me feel like I was taking an afternoon stroll on that very path. Beautiful. All of them.

Hmmm, they are all wonderful. And, like gelato flavors, I can’t possibly choose one!

I would send you some of my photos, but I don’t think there is much call for pics obscured by my thumb or the lens cap
